Behind the scenes: prepping for a milk bath session - Vero Beach Milk Bath Photographer

I love doing sneak peeks of floral baths for my clients. After I have carefully curated and purchased all the flowers/leaves/branches, I give them a day to open up a bit more at home before I trim them in preparation for decorating the bath and tub. I line them all up on the bar at my kitchen counter (out of reach of toddler’s hands) and let them do their thing. That’s usually when I scan past them with my phone and share it as a story on Instagram. Clients love it and we all get excited together for the session the next day - a floral-adorned milk bath or herbal bath.

In preparation for today’s session, I also tried my first go at a time-lapse video using a GoPro. Flower trimming took about 45 minutes. You’ll also notice my 3 year old came in and wanted to cut her own flowers too. She packed them up just like I did, then stuffed them in her purse to use to take pictures of her unicorn, Daddy, and brother. My little photographer in training…

Dreamy Walk along the Lagoon Maternity Session - Vero Beach Maternity Photography

Sometimes I can’t believe that this is my job.

Really.

I am beyond grateful that I get to be a storyteller with photography. And even more so when I have the opportunity to do it for others.

Life is constantly changing. Families growing, shifting around, ebbing and flowing. The chance I give families to hold on to a time in their lives - with all of them in the frame - is such a gift.

This session is part of the story of how love made magic into reality.

You can just see the love, excitement, and anticipation in these two.

This adventuresome couple took me on a hike and showed me a hidden gem here on the Treasure Coast. A boardwalk that went on foreeeeeeever, lined by mangroves.

Romantic Beach Maternity Session - Fort Pierce Maternity Photographer

I was pretty excited for this session. Well I actually think I feel that way before all my sessions. ;)

Driving to the beach to play in the sand... is work?

Anyway, mom-to-be loves nature and trees and forests and dad is a surfer. Thankfully I knew just the location perfect for this beyond adorable couple before they become a new family.

These two, you can even tell even from afar, are truly and deeply and so very madly in love. It's the kind of passion you only witness a few rare glimpses of in a lifetime.

Fair warning. There's a lot of smooching <3

At this time I was the Photographer on Retainer for Wrapsody Baby wraps. I was always looking for creative ways to photograph wraps (and still am!). This Zoe wrap I felt was so fitting for this family. The ocean version of the tree of life - a coral - set upon a sea her favorite color.

Summer Session Special - Treasure coast family photographer

Hi. My name is Cory and I love the ocean. I love the way the waves dance on the shore, the smell of salt spray as you get closer and closer on your drive there, when you are swimming (or surfing, but that's still on my bucket list) and feel the swell rise below you and lift you up,  the joy I see it bring in others when they are there.

And, believe it or not, I disliked the heat of summer almost my entire life. That is, until I moved to Florida 4 years ago. Yes, seriously. I decided to embrace the humid and hot since I was transplanted to a place that was practically summer year round. Why fight it?

My solution? Return to sentence number two above.

2018 summer session special - ebb and flow photography

Bu it's summer, you think. It's hot. Who would want to get family photos done and stand around in the sweltering heat? Not me. But I'm not a stand-around-in-the-heat kinda gal, and definitely not that kind of photographer. I'm playful and want to jump and run and float in the sea. And I bet your kids (and maybe you) are too. And guess what? Photographing families (and families to be) at the beach is one of my favorite things to do.

Here's why:

I get to capture you at the beginning of the session, fresh and pressed. Hmm. This is great. You're getting your holiday portraits done early so you're ahead of the game. And then we progress down the beach for a few more, getting a few splashes on our toes. Hmm, these would be great on the wall in the living room... maybe some along the staircase or even the hallway. And then a few more photos where the waves are starting to get us all a little bit more. So much fun, jumping and splashing and searching for shark teeth and chasing the waves. After a little bit, the tiny ones are getting tired and need to be carried up the beach before cleaning off. Everyone is rejuvenated by the fun and relaxed by the sea. It's special and a little dreamy. On the way home, everyone is wearing an almost indistinguishable smile.  Maybe the kids fall asleep. You didn't know it when you woke up this morning, but these are the days you are most grateful for. These are the days you want to remember. And when you look back on this day, flipping page after page in the album you decided to order, you see the connections and love so much clearer than you did when you made the memories in the first place. You hold it up to your heart and hold it like it was just yesterday.

Let me help you preserve this joy for you.

This year I'm feeling extra sentimental and I am offering a super duper awesome discount to families that want to make and to keep memories like this. $100 off my standard session price for all session dates booked between the first day of summer and Labor Day weekend (September 3rd, 2018). Spaces are limited so click below to reserve your date!

It Takes a Village - Maternity and Generations Photography Session - fort pierce family photographer

I was pretty excited when Savannah approached me to do an extended family session. We had known each other for a while through La Leche League and she was expecting her second. Breastfeeding and babies? Yes, please. And an opportunity to photograph her adorable son was totally the icing on the cake.

Grandparents were of course a part of this Extended Family Session. I think there is more than a little bit of Gator blood in this family. Possibly a third generation here in another 16 years?

Watching grandparents dote over their grandchildren is such a joy. I know, for my parents, it was almost more exciting than having their own children.

I loved his little face here. He was finally opening up and making some goofy expressions. As it turns out, this is his poop face. Sorry grandpa! Haha.

Finally, I captured the beautiful shape of her burgeoning belly. Supporting her only child while her arms are still free to.

And then, being supported by her family. Her village. I love finding deep and meaningful images like this for every family I work with. So much love and all the combined years of relationships captured in a single image. Oh, my heart!
